Poem: How do I love you

How do I love you?
I would count the ways,
but that would take far longer
than I have here on this earth.

Poems are good,
but words can come out wrong
and are a poor substitute

So how can I tell you?
I can't
All I can do
Is show you,
every day,
in all the little ways

How do I love you?
By more than just words on a page,
by more than dying for you ever would show
by more than not surviving without you

By living...

Burned Triangle

So here I stand on the precipise
my bridge to you burned,
ashes still smolder
I see you on the other side
Your tear streaked face
distorted in anger
I hear your sweet voice calling
yelling with hatred
shouting to jump
The tools to rebuild are in front of me
the work will be long
but can it be worth it?

Yet here I stand on the precipise
my bridge to you burned
ashes still smolder
I see you on the other side
laying new boards
trying to recapture
I hear you hammer ceaclessly
your brow beads sweaty
not giving up yet
But your foundations are shakey
from promises made
to another

Do I begin
to build one bridge or another
Do I let die
One love or the other
Do I walk away
from both of you and not bother

Here I stand at the precipise
two bridges burned
both by my own hand
How do I choose which path is right
or do I jump
and fall forever
love is forever harder
than any tale
will ever tell
And dreams never meet reality
Who will hurt
Who will suffer

Do I begin
to build one bridge or another
Do I let die
One love or the other
Do I walk away
from both of you and not bother

Do I begin
to build one bridge or another
Do I let die
One love or the other
Do I walk away
from both of you and not bother

Dreams never meet reality
All will hurt
All will suffer
